Trim Levels

Ford Maverick XL

The most basic version of the Maverick keeps things relatively simple. No matter which color you get it in, the grille, mirror caps, and door and tailgate handles are plain black. All-season tires measuring 225/65R surround a set of all-business 17-inch steel wheels. The interior is equally straightforward: cloth seats, manual adjustment for the driver and front passenger seats, and a flip-up three-seat bench in the back.

As no-nonsense as the Maverick may be in terms of its looks, you won't see it getting the Society of Luddites seal of approval. LED headlights are standard. Behind the steering wheel, which features redundant audio controls for the six-speaker sound system, there's a 4.2-inch multi-information display. There's an even larger 8-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the middle of the dashboard. Just below the climate controls is a USB-A port, USB-C port and one of two 12-volt outlets. Everybody onboard can keep their smart devices connected on the go with the built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. All Maverick models come with automatic headlights and high beams, a rearview camera, Post-Collision Braking and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking.

Ford Maverick XLT

Upgrading to the Maverick XLT gives you access to several changes, some of which are more obvious than others. Like the XL, the XLT has a black grille, mirror caps, and door and tailgate handles. But look a little closer and you'll see a gray bar spans the width of the grille and interlocks with the headlights. Instead of manual side mirrors, the XLT has power mirrors with integrated blindspot mirrors. The driver's door is equipped with the keypad for Ford's convenient SecuriCode keyless entry keypad. The 17-inch aluminum wheels are an undeniable sign that you're looking at the midrange model in the Maverick lineup.

Beyond the Maverick XLT's power locking tailgate, the 4.5-foot Flexbed has four helpful D-rings and a covered storage compartment that's perfect for small items like an air pump or hitch ball.

Small changes make the XLT's cabin more comfortable and convenient. The seats are covered in a special cloth fabric. Standard cruise control makes road trips a little easier for the driver. Passengers in the back will enjoy those long journeys more thanks to the addition of a fold-down center armrest and a pair of integrated cupholders.

Ford Maverick Lariat

The top-of-the-line Maverick goes bigger, bolder and better in every way. Signature lighting makes the Lariat's front end even more distinctive. Body-color power mirror caps, and door and tailgate handles give the body a sleeker, sportier look. The Lariat rides on 225/60R rubber and two-tone 18-inch wheels, the largest available in the lineup.

Getting into and starting the Maverick Lariat is a keyless process. To protect its interior from outdoorsy activities, Ford covered the Lariat's power front buckets and rear bench in ActiveX, a synthetic material designed to be durable and stain resistant. Adventurers on both sides of the cabin can dial in their ideal temperature on the dual-zone climate control system. Figuring out which color of ambient lighting they agree upon may be a little harder.

Tech upgrades include a larger, 6.5-inch display behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel and a pair of USB ports on the back side of the center console.
